Our story began when we organized a 5-day camp that brought together 35 South Sudanese refugee students living in Kenya to engage in dialogue about the divisive conflict in South Sudan.

In 2018, we partnered with Greenbelt Academy in Bor, South Sudan to deliver a peace education curriculum to  37 of their senior high school students for the whole.  In 2020, we included financial education as a core aspect of our programs by piloting our curriculum with 15 recent high school graduates.  Here is a glance of some of our past initiatives.

WORLD SCHOLARS CUP

The World Scholars Cup is an international program that brings students together to engage in academic enrichment activities. WSC annually welcomes over 30,000 students to local eventsĀ  around the world where students participate in teams of three and work together in 4 different academic events that include team debate, collaborative writing and team quizzes. In June 2019, Peace Power South Sudan hosted the first ever world scholars cup event in the country that brought together more than 100 students from high schools in Juba. Some teams qualified for a global round and travelled to Durban, South Africa to compete other other international students

FINANCIAL EDUCATION & ENTREPENEURIAL LEADERSHIP

In 2020, we implemented a 3-month fellowship for 15 recent high school graduates in South Sudan. The program focused on equipping the youth with financial knowledge and developing an entrepreneurial mindset while tackling challenges in their communities. The participants designed solutions and pitched their projects at the close of the fellowship.
